Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

With over a decade of experience in climate advocacy and grassroots mobilization, ICCDI–Africa addresses the urgent threat of climate change by promoting both mitigation and adaptation strategies at community and policy levels. The reality of the climate crisis in Africa is not a distant threat; it is felt daily through rising sea levels in coastal cities like Lagos, desertification in the North, and unpredictable rainfall patterns affecting food supply. Our programs are designed to build resilience against these extreme weather events—floods, droughts, and storms—that disproportionately impact vulnerable populations.

We move beyond rhetoric to implement science-based interventions. Through our flagship #ClimateWednesday campaign and the RANTZ (Raising Awareness on Net-Zero) project, we bridge the gap between complex climate data and local indigenous knowledge. We help communities anticipate, withstand, and recover from climate-related shocks by establishing community-led early warning systems and advocating for the enforcement of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). By combining technical expertise with grassroots reality, ICCDI ensures that disaster risk reduction efforts are inclusive, practical, and truly sustainable.
